Description

North East of Konya lies Obruk a village in the Bor district of central Anatolia. This is where this beautiful Obruk Prayer rug was woven around 1860 – 1880. Some old areas of restoration but a rare piece with great colours.

. . .

Both ends have been professionally restored some time ago and a few old repairs in the main field in the madder red. The sides/selvedges are original and no large areas have been repaired. The apricot dye in the border is fantastic and a common colour of Anatolian rugs from this region. This antique Anatolian Prayer rug would hang well on the wall or sit happily on the floor with good underlay. We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire & the UK by appointment.
