An unusual antique Baktiari carpet in perfect condition. With the elaborate central medallion and defined corner motifs, you could be mistaken into thinking this was a Heriz in design in elements. Wonderful pale blue large corners and warm reds, subtle greens too and a lovely flowing border design. A warm attractive carpet with lovely soft fine wool and mellow dyes. Woven around 1910-1915.
The rugs of the nomadic Baktiari people are distinctive and easily recognisable by their special designs. The field of the rug is most commonly divided into squares or diamonds, each of which contains floral and or flowering plant motifs and occasionally animals.
