Description

A beautiful pale classical antique Tabriz carpet woven in the late 19th century, this carpet has a stunning detailed design and the muted tones of pale greens, terracottas and neutral biscuit tones.  The medallion and border along with the corner spandrels all have this lovely neutral tone.  There are some lower areas of pile and scattered wear which adds to the carpets beautiful character.  Woven around 1880-1890 the colours are sublime and amazing to decorate with.  Carpets woven from this workshop are extremely fine in their execution, and were always made using excellent dyes that have mellowed beautifully.

The soft palette is due to the carpets age, woven around circa 1880-1890 the dyes would have been much stronger and fade to give a wonderful saturated feel. This elegant classical carpet would look wonderful in a drawing room or under a dining table.  A remarkable and elegant antique carpet from Tabriz with extraordinary colours, one of the best pieces we have had of this type, just simply beautiful!

Tabriz rugs offer classical medallion designs and a host of allover patterns as well in every color imaginable, from brilliant rich tones to soft pastels using excellent natural dyes.
