Description

A fantastic oversized finely woven antique Baktiari carpet in full pile. With an elaborate well drawn all over design. A rich attractive carpet with lovely warm dyes. Woven around 1910-1915.

The rugs of the nomadic Baktiari people are distinctive and easily recognisable by their special designs. The field of the rug is most commonly divided into squares or diamonds, each of which contains floral and or flowering plant motifs and occasionally animals.

. . .

This elegant carpets harks back to the designs from the fine court carpets of Persia in the 18th century. This carpet would have surely have been commissioned in the early part of the C20th.
