Description

Antique Fereghan carpet with an unusual white ground woven around 1870. The pale blue dyes and the early aubergine dye are fantastic colours along with the structure of the design. This is a very elegant, refined carpet.

An antique Fereghan carpet woven in Central Persia in the mid to late 19th century. In superb condition with a good pile all over.

. . .

Fereghan carpets are unlike their neighbours Sarouk which are more formal often using a medallion. Fereghan weavers preferred floral motifs of shrubs and vines using more green dyes and hints of yellow. The dyes have mellowed beautifully due to the carpets age allowing it to be placed in a drawing room or dining room with ease. We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire & the UK by appointment. Please contact us using the enquire form below.
