Description

A beautiful intricate antique Kashan rug woven around 1920 in perfect full pile.  A finely woven classical rug with an all over vine and flower design which is rarer to find as most Kashan rugs were woven with a central medallion.  Also to note is more often we see Kashan rugs with either an indigo blue or madder red background colour, so again the natural ivory wool is lovely to see in the main field and in the border.

. . .

As it lightens the rugs palette and enhances the lovely soft greens, blues, pinks and gold tones.  The end fringes are nicely secure and the rug comes with no damage or stains.  The finely spun wool pile is high all over the entire rug making it a very durable piece to sit happily on the floor.  We love the soft greens we can see throughout the rug, please do look at all the additional images to see the colours and condition.

Kashans are highly treasured and classed among the very best Persian carpets and rugs. Kashan is north of Isfahan in the centre of Persia, this is also a town where fine rugs and carpets were woven, both have similarities in design and colour.  The best antique Kashan rugs were woven from the late 19th to the beginning of the 20th century. During this time period, the finest and highest quality antique Kashan rugs were commissioned for individual homes predominately for the Western market.

Please request a home visit to arrange a convenient time to view this fine antique Kashan rug in situ, we love to travel all over the UK and show our rugs in situ or alternatively visit our barn showroom in Crondall, Surrey.  We are approximately 30 miles or an hours drive from London.
