The condition of this carpet is really exceptional, the coarser weave from this type often produces a wooly pile, this carpet is slightly finer than some but the pile is thick nearly all over the carpet. We love the look, design and palette of this early piece with great dyes and dye change. It could definitely work in a traditional setting as well as a contemporary space due to the vibrancy and all over abstract design.
The weavers in Bakshaish, north Persia used the influences of tribal weavers from the Caucasian villages in their designs. These rustic carpets are often a very similar in colour to that of neighbouring Heriz and Serapi carpets and rugs. The early pieces such as this will always have more muted dyes purely down to their age, the natural yellows and variety of rust reds are only seen in carpets of this vintage.
