A deep blue background with a warm red border on this antique Heriz carpet, Persia – A fine heavy weave with a thick pile.  An extremely durable carpet ideal for an entrance hall or living space with the interlocking motifs and geometric design this could be used in contemporary setting as well as traditional. An unusual design connecting the medallions with the floral motifs.

Heriz is the name applied to the rugs and carpets of some 30 villages that lie within the North-West of Persia. They produced some beautiful carpets, rugs and runners during the late 19th Century until the early 20th Century, they are know as the ‘Iron rugs of Persia” as they are made with very tough wool and wear very well.
