Description

A beautiful antique Heriz runner in very good original condition.  The design is superb with four starbursts, reminiscent of early Karaja rug designs.  The pile is superb – good deep pile throughout,  so ideal for even in a very busy hallway.  The dyes are all vegetable and the colours have aged very nicely, creating a lovely looking decorative piece.  There are no losses to the fringes, and the sides are all original.  Woven in the early part of the 20th century, these tribal runners are full of great colours and design.

Request a home visit to arrange an ideal day and time for us to visit you to show you this antique Heriz runner in situ, so you can see if the size, colour and design works in your home.  We travel all over the UK helping customers and interior designers.

. . .

Heriz and Karaja are not far from the Azerbaijan Border so they draw influences from many Caucasian rugs and runners. They are easily recognisable with repeating medallions similar to those in caucasian rugs. The central motif is often the latch-hooked design motif or an eight-pointed star.  The village weavings of Karaja such as this runner often use a simpler repeating medallion design with a great array of colour.
