A soft toned antique Heriz runner from the early part of the 20th Century, with connecting medallions running down the centre of this runner. This antique runner is in very good condition with a thick durable wool pile and no losses to the fringes, the sides are original in parts and have been tidied up in places.  A lovely antique runner ideal to brighten up the floor in a corridor or entrance hall.

Heriz and Karaja are not far from the Azerbaijan Border so they draw influences from many Caucasian rugs and runners. They are easily recognisable with repeating medallions similar to those in caucasian rugs. The central motif is often the latch-hooked design motif or an eight-pointed star.  The village weavings of Karaja such as this runner often use a simpler repeating medallion design with a great array of colour.
