Description

Beautiful soft coloured antique Heriz runner, with lovely pale blues and indigo blue border. The wool is extremely soft on this piece, and the pile height is very good too.  A very decorative and well spaced out design, using diamond motifs and abstract leaf designs.

A great long antique runner for anywhere in the home, we provide our excellent sturdy underlay included in the price too.

. . .

Heriz and Karaja are not far from the Azerbaijan Border so they draw influences from many Caucasian rugs and runners. They are easily recognisable with repeating medallions similar to those in caucasian rugs. The central motif is often the latch-hooked design motif or an eight-pointed star.  The village weavings of Karaja such as this runner often use a simpler repeating medallion design with a great array of colour.  Heriz often deployed this abstract all over design, with vines and geometric flowers.  They dyes are also what make these tribal antique runners so desirable, as well as their durability.
