An unusual colour 1920’s old Tabriz carpet with a fine weave and classical design.  There is a variety of colours you would associate with this period of weaving, the pale green, yellow, purple tones with a reddish brown border colour.  Woven around 1920 in the north of Persia in the city of Tabriz, the city famous for classical carpets using medallion designs such as this carpet.

 In good condition throughout with a soft pile that is medium high all over. It has been professionally washed by ourselves and it is ready to be used on the floor, we supply durable underlay with every antique or contemporary carpet.

Tabriz carpets from Northwest Persia are distinguished by their excellent weave and by their remarkable adherence to the classical traditions of Persian rug design, but they cannot be distinguished by any particular pattern or by their coloration. Tabriz rugs offer classical medallion designs and a host of allover patterns as well in every color imaginable, from brilliant rich tones to soft pastels.
