The majority of Heriz carpets are woven with a large central motif and elaborate corner spandrels. This carpet is more refined and classic with the small central motif, but the border is the stand out part of this carpet – It is very wide with simple guard stripes and the flowing design throughout it is quite wonderful.
Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration, made in the north-west of Persia these handwoven works of art always have variations from one piece to another. Some draw influences from further north into the Caucasus and vivid colours like this particular carpet. A decorative yet practical carpet which has been used for over 100 years and stood the test of time.
