Antique Lesghi rug

Circa 1870
201 × 137 cm 6’7” x 4’5”
£8,750

Description

Ancient Lesghi star rug, woven around 1870 with faded dyes and amazing tribal motifs.

We love the ivory border with the Kufic design, or more often know as the ‘Crab’ border, which is actually a crude rosette with four crudely drawn leaves.  Lesghi are famous for their bold star design in the centre panels.  Hailing from the Kuba region in the north of the Caucasus and more often are woven with rich reds and vivid indigo blues,  we can also see some rare green dyes in this caucasian rug too.

A rare highly collectable, almost perfect pile and condition antique Lesghi rug.  Please contact us to view it at home or at our showroom soon.
