Description

Such a pretty pale border on this 140 year old antique Bidjar rug, these were woven in the Kurdish town in West Persia – famous for weaving tough carpets and rugs in varying designs.  This rug uses the ‘Herati’ fish design in the main field and ivory central medallion also known as the ‘Mina-Khani’ floral pattern.  Lovely pale pinks and early green dyes have been used to weave a delightful rug.

In wonderful condition, professionally washed and supplied with our sturdy anti-slip rug underlay.  A tiny few areas of lower pile can be seen but the general order is very good indeed.

Visit our barn showroom soon to see this rug up close and over a 1000 more.  We hold one of the largest collections of antique rugs and contemporary carpets in the UK.

Or by selecting a home visit we shall bring this rug for you to view in situ, along with more rugs if you select alternatives to view too.

Rugs from Bidjar are very tough due to their structure which consists of usually five weft threads, two are loose wool threads followed by one taut cotton thread, then a further two loose wool threads. These are tightly beaten together against the knots, creating an extremely tight, compact rug.

We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire the UK & Europe by appointment.  Request a home visit to see this beautiful antique Bidjar rug in-situ.
