The Persians were very clever entrepreneurs and followed fashion and design closely, so this type of caret would have never been intended for use in their own homes, but was commissioned by a trader or dealer who knew the market in Europe well.
Antique Mahal carpets are usually woven with an all-over pattern, consisting of floral designs and soft tones. Their neighbours in the north of Persia, Heriz were always more geometric in their style – and more often were woven with central motifs. Look at both types if you are thinking of furnishing a room, as one of these two styles (Mahal or Heriz) are the most popular and fashionable types.
All of our carpets and rugs we supply come with the best rug underlay on the market, a fantastic product we have supplied for over 10 years which keeps a carpet secure, and adds stability to it. This helps prevent any further wear and adds to its durability.
