A soft muted Antique Persian Tabriz carpet woven around 1890-1900 that has delicate dyes using eau de nil tones and muted orange colours too. The repeating small ‘Herati’ design in the main field of the carpet is well refined and as it is a small pattern it is easy to place in a room. This elegant classical carpet would look wonderful in a drawing room or under a dining table for instance. A few lower areas of wear in places but nothing significant, if anything this adds to the character of a very durable attractive antique carpet which is around 120 years.
Tabriz carpets from Northwest Persia are distinguished by their excellent weave and by their remarkable adherence to the classical traditions of Persian rug design, but they cannot be distinguished by any particular pattern or by their coloration. Tabriz rugs offer classical medallion designs and a host of allover patterns as well in every color imaginable, from brilliant rich tones to soft pastels using excellent natural dyes.
