A rich and vibrant antique Karaja with good colours, especially the blue corner spandrels and green star motifs. The white central latch-hook motif lifts the rugs palette too. A great tribal geometric rug ideal to sit in front of fireplace or in a hall. This type of rug look fantastic with antique furniture and on wooden floors. We have even placed these rugs in contemporary settings and they can look great in that environment too.
Antique Karaja rugs were woven in a village in the northeast of the Heriz region of Persia, not far from the Azerbaijan Border. Their designs generally consisted of 8 pointed star motifs like this piece as well as weaving in animals and people which adds great interest. The sun-burst design is not uncommon or they would weave a more geometric central motif known as a latch-hook design.
