Description

A finely woven sturdy antique Bidjar carpet woven around the early part of the 20th century. As these types of carpets are so tough it is no surprise it is in excellent condition. Some lovely pale blue in the border.

Rugs from Bidjar are very tough due to their structure which consists of usually five weft threads, two are loose wool threads followed by one taut cotton thread, then a further two loose wool threads.

. . .

These are tightly beaten together against the knots, creating an extremely tight, compact rug. They tend to be floral in design, with the ‘Herati’ fish design commonly used in the main field and border.

We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire as well as travelling all over the UK & Europe by appointment. Use our Request Home Visit service to select a day and time to view this carpet in situ.
