Description

A rich coloured antique Bidjar carpet with a good thick pile. A very durable carpet with a classical persian design. Woven with red, gold/yellow and royal blues.

Rugs from Bidjar are very tough due to their structure which consists of usually five weft threads, two are loose wool threads followed by one taut cotton thread, then a further two loose wool threads.

. . .

These are tightly beaten together against the knots, creating an extremely tight, compact rug. They tend to be floral in design, with the ‘Herati’ fish design commonly used in the main field and border.
