Description

A rich coloured antique Bidjar carpet with a good thick pile. A very durable carpet with a classical persian old repeating diamond design. A rare and unusual pattern for Bidjar weavers, who often preferred more geometric designs and large scale floral motifs.  Woven with deep red/orange tone, gold/yellow subtle dyes and deep intense royal blues.  A fabulous decorative antique carpet from the late 19th century.

We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire the UK & Europe by appointment. Please contact us using the enquire form below.

. . .

Rugs from Bidjar are very tough due to their structure which consists of usually five weft threads, two are loose wool threads followed by one taut cotton thread, then a further two loose wool threads. These are tightly beaten together against the knots, creating an extremely tight, compact rug. They tend to be floral in design, with the ‘Herati’ fish design commonly used in the main field and border.
