Description

An amazing antique Karabagh kilim with two opposing peacocks. Would look great on either the floor or especially the wall. Great colours and in good original condition, woven around the early part of the 20th Century.  Karabagh rugs are very interesting as they vary in design a great deal, they can be geometric in style or woven with floral patterns drawing influences from European designs.

. . .

Black and purple designs are often trademark colours from this region.  This highly decorative antique kelim or kilim is no exception.  The condition is really very good and could be used as floral decoration or as a tapestry on the wall.  The Peacocks are simply fantastic!

Karabagh is a mountainous region in the south west of Azerbaijan.  Their rug designs consisted of striking geometric motifs often depicting birds and animals these are very collectable rugs.
