Description

A beautiful mid 19th century Antique Konya Aksaray Kilim with early dyes from south-western central Anatolia.  In stunning great condition and very useable on the floor with excellent underlay we provide to stop flat weaves from moving and being dangerous.  The large diamond shaped motifs along with hexagonal latch-hook designs are what we usually see in these Kilims, woven with gorgeous pale blues, reds, greens and dark brown tones.

Konya, in south-central Anatolia, was the capital of Seljuk Empire from the mid-eleventh to the thirteenth century and was in its prime during that period.  Their are still small quantities of kilims being woven with hand-spun wool and natural colours today.  Konya kilims feature the most varied compositions found in Anatolia, and there have been a great number of kilims made there over centuries.  A great variety of colours is used, most often the lighter palette than in Eastern Anatolia.  Patterns are diverse too, with hexagonal motifs and extending hook arm designs too.

We offer the service of viewing any of our antique kilims in situ.  We love visiting customers all over the UK, having helped customers and interior designers find the perfect carpet, rug, kilim or runner for their home since 1990.

We have a wonderful collection of antique kilims woven in Anatolia the Caucasus and Persia.  As well as beautiful European Bessarabian kilims from Ukraine, we love flat weave rugs as they hold so much interest and variety in colours and styles vary considerably.
