Description

Antique Bordjalou rug in full pile and in near original condition. These type of rugs always have a striking latchhook zig-zag border. A very collectable and rare rug with amazing lustrous wool with vibrant natural dyes.

The Borchalu of Bordjalou were a Mongol created tribe who settled in the area of Georgia which borders on present day Armenia and Azerbaijan. Rugs bearing this name come from the highland area of the Caucasus whose centre is the town of Kazak.

Woven by semi-nomadic shepherds of the region using hand spun wool from their own herd.
