Pair of Antique Malayer runners

Circa 1900
503 × 104 cm 16’6” x 3’4”
£14,000

Description

A beautiful pair of antique Malayer runners, the main filed design is really stunning, comprising of ‘Boteh’ motifs with a scrolling leaf minor border in natural off white wool.  The main background is a deep blue, which allows the softer pink and red tones of the Boteh’s to look like they are floating on the sea of blue! Wonderful colours as you expect of antique runners woven over 120 years ago, their condition is excellent too.  Retaining both original fringes and the wool pile is soft and consistent throughout.

One runner measures 503 x 104 cm, and the other is slightly shorter at 498 x 108 cm.
