Using faded natural dyes, the soft sandy tone background colour with delicate pale blues, soft reds, fabulous greens and gold tones too, these create a wonderful palette of colours. All hand-woven with an ancient Khotan Pomegranate design, a wonderful all over design, woven with lovely detail, ideal for a drawing room, bedroom or dining room for example, please view all the extra images to see the colours and design up close.
We hold a large inventory of contemporary carpets with ancient designs from Sultanabad and these Khotan designs too. Original antique Khotan’s hail from this Eastern Turkestan city, and are part of the legends of the Silk Road. Designs vary with ornate borders and large elaborate medallions to gorgeous all over repeating patterns. The city is famous for producing both silk and wool carpets. The pomegranate in Khotan rugs became a symbol for prosperity, with its branches fashioned into an exquisite geometric folk design.
