. . .

A sunburst design antique Zejwa rug from the northern Kuba region. The brown dye has corroded due to the metal thread given the rest of the design a great embossed feel. In fantastic condition, a great early piece. Kuba is a town located in the Daghestan area of the Caucasus mountain region close to the Caspian Sea. They are always geometric in design and generally were woven with a blue background making them a distinctive Caucasian rug. Designs vary from the Kuba region as many different types of rugs were woven here, such as Perepedil, Seychour and Zejwa.
