Description

An absolutely beautiful rare antique Indian silk rug from Lahore.  This has just arrived in our stock from a rug collector and has been hanging on the wall most of its’ life, with the hanging loops still in place.  Because of the care the rug has been given throughout its life,  it is in quite fabulous, very nearly mint condition.  A deep black background with a soft green border and gentle pinks, a stunning lattice design with peacocks and in outstanding silk pile.

. . .

At one end it has a long fringe, the other end has been finished with a very unusual red stripe within a short kelim fringe.  This red stripe is usually attributed to the Toussounian workshop in Istanbul,  so is most unusual.  It may point to the possibility that the rug was commissioned by, or woven by Turkish Toussounian weavers.

Please request a home visit to see this exquisite antique silk rug at home, you can select an ideal day and time that is convenient for you.  Travelling all over the UK, London, Surrey, Hampshire and Europe since 1990.
