Description

A stunning and rare antique Heriz kelleh dating from the late 19th century, the colours and design are simply stunning.   Woven with a geometric stylised flower and leaf design in the main field and a large scrolling border design, more often Heriz carpets will have larger medallions or bigger patterns this piece is classed as a rarer all over pattern.  These designs are extremely rare to come across, especially in this amazing original condition.  The variation of pale blues, brick red tones, pale greens are natural dyes from the best era in Persian weaving.  This long carpet kelleh would look remarkable on a wood floor in the entrance hall, living room or study.

. . .

The condition is near perfect, with a good wool pile all over this carpet.  The ends are secure and and side selvedges are secure and strong too.  We have washed it by hand and the colours have freshened up beautifully.  Over 130 years old, Heriz carpets as good as this piece were woven with the best materials and have stood the test of time.

We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire & the UK by appointment. Please request a home visit to view this beautiful rare antique Heriz carpet in your own home.  We have been travelling all over the UK & Europe showing carpets in situ helping interior designers and customers alike for over 25 years.

Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration, made in the north-west of Persia these handwoven works of art always have variations from one piece to another. Some draw influences from further north into the Caucasus and vivid colours like this particular carpet.
