Description

This beautiful pale Antique Persian Tabriz carpet was woven around 1890-1900 and has delicate soft colours using muted pinks and pale blue dyes in the border.  The repeating small ‘Herati’ design in the main field of the carpet is well refined and as it is a small pattern it is easy to place in a room.  This elegant classical carpet would look wonderful in a drawing room or under a dining table.  A faded an attractive antique carpet from Tabriz with subtle tones in good condition.  The pile is medium high and would have been cut quite fine when it was woven over 100 years ago.  A few lower areas of wear in places but nothing significant and adds to the character of the carpet.

. . .

Tabriz carpets from Northwest Persia are distinguished by their excellent weave and by their remarkable adherence to the classical traditions of Persian rug design, but they cannot be distinguished by any particular pattern or by their coloration. Tabriz rugs offer classical medallion designs and a host of allover patterns as well in every color imaginable, from brilliant rich tones to soft pastels using excellent natural dyes.
