Description

An Antique Kuba rug with lovely colours from the late 19th century, the design in the main field is a fascinating array of geometric latch-hook motifs, a crisply well drawn pattern and full of gorgeous colours.  In general condition is very nice, with some corrosion to the black dyes due to the iron properties in the wool used to create that dye.

Kuba is a rug producing town located in the north-east of the Caucaus next to the Caspian Sea. The port of Baku in Kuba had its own school for carpet-making.  An amazing and collectable Caucasian rug with great design and a fantastic array of early natural colours.
