With a cotton foundation and the highest quality hand-spun wool, the pile of this new Agra carpet is luxurious underfoot and combined with the best natural dyes, this is one of the best productions of new hand-woven carpets available.
This fine weave would have taken around 14-16 months to weave, and becoming increasingly rare to find new productions of antique carpets in this quality. The antique design is taken from ancient Agra carpets which were woven in India in the 19th century. With large scale motifs of floral patterns and leaves, with ancient cloud-band motifs too, this is an remarkable recreation with amazing warmth, the rich reds and beautiful greens and indigo blues for the border are sublime with subtle tones of pale yellow and pinks to balance the palette. We can even see wonderful abrash, the term for dye change, this carpet was woven by the best weavers and abrash helps to make carpets have depth and look antique.
