A very sweet antique Heriz runner from North-West Persia, woven around 1900-1910. A wonderful willow tree design running down the centre of this pretty small runner. We supply excellent underlay with every item, which helps the runner stay still and sit flat on the floor. We love the warm red brick tones on this piece, with varying pale blue dyes and soft pinks in the minor borders.
Request a home visit to arrange an ideal day and time for us to visit you to show you this antique Heriz runner in situ, so you can see if the size, colour and design works in your home. Visit our barn showroom by appointment to view this runner up close and many more.
Heriz and Karaja are not far from the Azerbaijan Border so they draw influences from many Caucasian rugs and runners. They are easily recognisable with repeating medallions similar to those in caucasian rugs. The central motif is often the latch-hooked design motif or an eight-pointed star. The village weavings of Karaja such as this runner often use a simpler repeating medallion design with a great array of colour.
