A stunning and very rare antique Heriz carpet with amazing early green dyes, with lovely abrash too, which is the dye change we can see throughout the carpet. A striking geometric design, full of character you would expect from an antique rug from the Heriz region of Persia, woven over 130 years ago and in excellent original order with a medium pile height and only minor preservation to the sides and fringes.
This size of antique carpet is one of the hardest to acquire, as they were not woven as frequently as the larger sizes. Especially in original condition and with rare dyes as this collectable piece, can be viewed at our barn showroom in Surrey or at home by appointment.
Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration, made in the north-west of Persia these handwoven works of art always have variations from one piece to another. Some draw influences from further north into the Caucasus and vivid colours like this particular carpet. A decorative yet practical carpet which has been used for over 100 years and stood the test of time.
