A beautiful Malayer runner in an incredibly hard to find size, being both narrow and very long at over 6 metres in length. The design is stunning too – we have never seen this design being used previously in a runner, with a large scale floral pattern with brilliant colours! The design suits the scale of this runner so well. We love the vivd strong dyes used, it could almost be mistaken for a contemporary palette. The bright oranges, soft blues, greens and muted yellows really pop on the deep blue indigo background.
The condition is very good indeed, the runner has been woven with a very tight fine weave and remains in excellent order throughout. Over 120 years old and been used privately for this time, is testimony to how durable antique persian carpets, rugs and runners are.

Malayer is a large village located between the major weaving areas of Hamadan and Sarouk in Northwest Persia. In Malayer and the small villages surrounding it, production was almost exclusively small antique rugs and runners made by individual weavers in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
