Description

A magnificent rare and early Persian Bidjar runner in good pile all over with a very unusual pale background. This mid to late 19th century runner is woven with fabulous vegetable dyes which have all faded quite beautifully.  The design of repeating leaves is very reminiscent of even earlier Isfahan ‘vase’ carpets.  Bidjar weavings are known for their strength and durability, mainly due to the tough wool they used and the sturdy construction.
