Antique Kurdish Kelleh

Circa 1890
333 × 132 cm 10’11” x 4’3”
£8,450

Description

A really beautiful Kurdish Kelleh from Northern Persia in a narrow corridor size and with exceptional dyes from the late 19th century.  A wonderful and early all over field design too, consisting of the small trees often seen from the Luri tribe.  Stunning variety of natural colours, the dyes they created in the late 19th century were truly special and have faded, yet retained their depth of colour. Condition is very good indeed, a deep wool pile consistent throughout.

Kurdish rugs are rugs woven by the Kurdish people in Middle East, predominantly the larger Kurdistan region including south Caucasus and north-western Persia. This is primarily where the rug weaving industry was and still is today.

We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire & the UK by appointment. Request a home visit to choose a suitable day and time for us to visit you.
