Bakshaish is a region very near to Heriz in the north-west of Persia, they tended to be softer in colour and have a geometric design of leaves and birds. Bakshaish adopt similar designs and weave to Heriz which are woven in the north of Persia.  In the late 19th century they used a variety of designs and colours, often bold and abstract they drew on influences from caucasian rugs using medallions and vivid dyes.  This type of rug has soft rich wool and as a tribal weaving of this region they often used a sandy yellow background allowing the warm reds, pale blue tones and greens in the leaves and abstract motifs to add character.  Antique Bakshaish carpets and rugs are referred to as the oldest production where Heriz and Serapi in the north of Iran come from.  Rare to find antique rugs and runners from this village in such condition now as more often they produced larger carpets for export.
