Description
Silk Agra carpet, India. This is an unusual modern carpet as the pile is wholly made of silk. Most of the carpets made following this design are of wool construction and we have rarely seen one made with a silk pile.
We would imagine that this carpet was actually made bespoke for a customer originally, as it is an unusual colour combination (with the amount of green used) and as mentioned the silk foundation which would have been expensive to weave.
