This would sit happily in a drawing room to furnish around due to the gentle colours and delicate design. Condition wise it is very good indeed, Ushak carpets are known for their loose construction using soft wool and they are not fine carpets like classical Persian examples. The pile of the carpet is very high nearly all over with minimal wear and a couple of old areas of restoration. A very decorative attractive carpet, which as you can see from the professional photograph has great appeal and beauty.
We offer the service of viewing our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire and all over the UK & Europe by appointment. Request a home visit to choose a convenient day and time to view this beautiful antique Ushak carpet in situ to see if it works with your interior.
A little about Ushak carpets and their history…….Ushaks were woven in Western Anatolia which was one of the largest rug production areas since the Ottoman Empire. Their designs tend to be more open than Persian rugs and soft dyes are not uncommon. Often younger Ushaks or Oushaks will be rich red in colour and use bolder geometric designs. An Ushaks construction is always quite coarse and never fine like a Persian carpet, this is partly what makes them so interesting. They are extremely popular with the best interior designers in the UK and overseas. This Anatolian carpet has an almost contemporary feel to it and would work in a modern space as well as traditional. We clean every carpet before offering it for sale and make sure the ends and fringes are secured. A decorative antique carpet ideal for a drawing room, dining room or even a bedroom. Their soft tones can compliment most interiors and has increased their value and popularity over recent years.
