Fine unusual green ground modern Agra carpet, with a dense wool pile. Green has always been an unusual colour to find in a hand woven carpet, whether it be an antique rug or a modern piece – It is a rare colour for a weaver to use as it is regarded as a holy colour by many and not suitable to be ‘profaned by a believers feet!’ Request a home visit to see this lovely carpet in your own home.
We have many of this type of carpet, being produced in Afghanistan copying old carpet designs. This particular carpet is a modern interpretation of the old ‘Garous’ design which was predominantly used in very large Bidjar carpets of the 19th and early 20th century.
