Description

Wow! This gorgeous teal green antique Ushak carpet is full of amazing colours and interesting motifs! Stylised animals, plants and leaves, a feast for the eyes!  Woven in the late 19th Century in Anatolia, western Turkey, these exquisite hand-woven carpets have been produced since the start of the Ottoman period (1300-1922).  The mid to late 19th century examples such as this became more open and decorative in design and were commissioned more for the Western market in the US and Europe and have since rivalled the look of the famous Ziegler carpets from Persia.

In near perfect original condition, this Ushak has a lovely dense wool pile all over.  Professionally washed and ready to be used, we supply our tough anti-slip underlay which aids the carpet considerably, stopping movement on any floor type and preserves the condition.  A fabulous large size, ideal for a drawing room, entrance hall, dining room or bedroom, these decorative antique carpets can be placed in any room to add character and immense colour.

Our home visits are available nationwide, please contact us to make an appointment.  It can also be viewed at our barn showroom in Crondall, Surrey by appointment too.

If you would like to reserve this Ushak carpet for your project or home, please use this service available so you do not miss out on it.

Often younger Ushaks or Oushaks will be rich red in colour and use bolder geometric designs.  This Anatolian carpet has an almost contemporary feel to it and would work in a modern space as well as traditional.  We clean every carpet before offering it for sale and make sure the ends and fringes are secured.  A decorative subtle piece ideal for a soft scheme.
