A wonderful quality pure silk Qum carpet. This has been woven with the best quality silk, by the most talented weavers. The foundation is all silk, as well as the pile. Woven with deep blacks and gold dyes, a striking and remarkable colour palette. Qum have always produced exceptional fine silk rugs, and this is no exception.

Qum was not a major weaving centre until the 1930’s. They took designs from other weaving centres such as Isfahan, Tabriz and Kashan and made them in to their own unique style. Qum’s are finely knotted and use high quality wool and silk. Large looms are set up in Qum so you often find oversized wool and silk Qum’s. Designs generally consist of central medallions with elaborate corner spandrel designs, often these represent the ceiling designs in mosques. Qum was also fond of producing hunting scene rugs, and unusual colours.
Our love of silk rugs and carpets has allowed us to gain quite a selection of fine examples, both antique and contemporary. We have some remarkable silk Isfahan carpets dating back to the turn of the century as well as a rare collection of Kum Kapi rugs.
