The scale of design on this contemporary Sultanabad runner is quite stunning, the large floral pattern is a direct copy of palmettes we would see on antique Ziegler carpets. A really beautiful and unique long runner that would enhance any corridor or hall. Hand-woven with all natural dyes and soft wool, using many variants of greys and pale blues for the background, which adds lots of depth to the palette. The off-whites, blues, muted terracottas and golds are lovely colours to use for the pattern, all natural dyes so very soft to the eye.
The design is from famous Ziegler carpets woven in the late 19th century in Persia. Ziegler and Sultanabad have long been names associated with the most decorative and desirable carpets, rugs and runners.
