Description

An antique Baktiari runner woven in the south-west of Persia with a beautiful array of colours, wonderful birds and abstract tree designs in the main field with exquisite natural dyes.  This antique runner dates from around 1900-1910 and is in good condition in general, only a few areas of minimal lower pile.  Woven on a soft wool foundation, they tend to be light to touch and come in a variety of designs, but Baktiari rarely produced runners. A wonderful vibrant tribal antique runner to brighten up a hall or corridor.

Baktiari, which is west of Isfahan, is a region where rugs used a similar medallion format to those of Isfahan rugs. This is where the similarity ends, as this village rug is coarsely woven on a wool foundation whereas Isfahan rugs are finer and woven using a cotton foundation. We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire & the UK by appointment.
