A very pretty silk Qum rug, all hand-woven with the finest silk and on a silk foundation too. The pale colours and detailing are really wonderful, woven around 1980 it is in excellent original condition too.
Qum was not a major weaving centre until around the 1930’s. They took designs from other weaving centres who produced exquisite work such as Isfahan, Tabriz and Kashan and made rugs to their own unique style. Qum rugs are always finely knotted and use high quality wool and silk, all woven by hand.
