Antique Hamadan runner

Description

An antique Hamadan runner woven in North-West of Persia, woven around 1910-1915.  Rich deep colours using a reddish brown main background, and small minor borders in pale blue and golden tones.  Lovely pinks, greens and pale blues have been used for the repeating floral design running down the main centre of this runner.  Condition is very nice, a good wool pile with only minimal lower pile showing.  This could even be restored by our workshop if necessary.

Hamadan is located in the west of Persia and the city was a centre for trading and weaving carpets, hundreds of villages surround Hamadan which produced various designs and qualities of rugs.
