320 × 221 cm 10’5” x 7’3”
£15,000

Description

Beautiful small scale all over floral design, with varying soft yellows, greens and pale blue border this antique Mahal carpet dating from the late 19th century, is a very handsome carpet, with no central medallion, this would be easy to place in a variety of rooms.  Woven around circa 1890-1900 the colours have faded beautifully, these decorative carpets from Northern Persia are full of charm and suit country houses to London apartments.

Some areas of lower pile and minimal wear are visible, adding to this antique carpets character, still with a sturdy construction and no holes.  Supplied with our anti-slip underlay this will stop the carpet from gaining further wear, as it adds body and keeps the carpet flat and safe.

Please request a home visit to see this antique Mahal carpet in-situ, you can select a convenient day and time for us to visit from our website. Or book in a visit to our barn showroom in Crondall, Surrey we would love to welcome you here soon.

We offer the professional service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire,  and anywhere else in UK by appointment. Having travelled to Ireland, Scotland and even Europe over the last 30 years we love to travel showing our carpets to customers and interior designers.

Mahal carpets were produced in Sultanabad, Persia which is now Arak in the centre of Iran. Mahal and Sultanabad rugs were made in the same area as the earliest Fereghans and Sarouks, but they are very different in form and structure. Floral motifs and overall designs of vinescrolls and palmettes remain consistent with the influences of western colour palettes and are all characteristics of Ziegler carpets.
