A lovely very small Heriz runner. This piece has been woven in beautiful colours and is in superb condition. It is now becoming far harder to find small Heriz weavings such as this, we try to buy all the pieces we see so they are available for you to see.
Heriz and Karaja are not far from the Azerbaijan Border so they draw influences from many Caucasian rugs and runners. They are easily recognisable with repeating medallions similar to those in caucasian rugs. The central motif is often the latch-hooked design motif or an eight-pointed star. The village weavings of Karaja such as this runner often use a simpler repeating medallion design with a great array of colour.
