An Antique Kuba rug with stunning colours from the late 19th century, the design in the main field is a fascinating array of geometric motifs, a crisply well drawn pattern and on the rarer ivory background and border.  Original pale blue side-cord wrapping and ends are showing and some lovely dye change can be seen in the green and pale blue dyes.

Kuba is a rug producing town located in the north-east of the Caucaus next to the Caspian Sea. The port of Baku in Kuba had its own school for carpet-making.  An amazing and collectable Caucasian rug with great design and a fantastic array of early natural colours.
