. . .

Rugs that bear the name Kasim Ushak or Kasim Ushag are quite distinctive in their design with a central design and four bold corner designs varying in colour.  These Kasim rugs come from the South Causasus in the Karabagh region of Azerbaijan.  Tribal caucasian rug weaving grew in the 2nd half of the 19th century as the commercial market demanded exciting, bold flamboyant pieces for the West.  Caucasian rugs and runners have always been collectable for their vivid colours and bold geometric designs.
